Interior Design Media is a global design publication that has served the interior design and architectural industries for more than 80 years. Over that time, Interior Design magazine has become one of the most respected design authorities in the world. With December approaching, IDM has officially announced its list of finalists for the Best of Year Awards, the design industry’s premier awards program. The ceremony recognizes the designers, architects, and manufacturers who have produced the most influential and innovative designs of the year. The awards are separated into two major categories; product designs and project designs. In addition, the finalists are vying for the title of best design in a series of sub categories, such as best accessories or best outdoor furniture. The winners will be announced by IDM Editor in Chief Cindy Allen at the BoY Awards ceremony on December 1.
In the product category, there are 64 different sub categories, ranging from automotive to lighting to seating and beyond. One of the most notable companies nominated is Kohler, which was named a finalist for the fittings and the fixtures awards in the bathroom portion of the ceremony. Other notable brand names that were name finalists include Lenova, Holly Hunt, Lenox, Bugatti, Land Rover, and Rolls-Royce Motor Cars. In fact, Holly Hunt was nominated for four awards.
The project finalists span across 67 sub categories that include installation, fitness, and entertainment designs. Top-notch companies like Panorama and Gensler were nominated for multiple awards. In fact, Gensler was nominated 14 times in 10 different categories, meaning that they received multiple nominations for the same category in a number of instances. Some of their most notable work include the Dallas Cowboys World Headquarters and the Hyatt Global Headquarters.
